Sony Releases 8 Cameras

Sony has unveiled eight new cameras to its lineup of what now must be three million, all set to be released from March until May of this year.

The cameras range from the simple point-and-click to the more capable, trickier cameras that do their best to make you feel incapable as a photographer. We have a few of the upcoming cameras below…

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 superzoom camera

The DSC-H10 superzoom measures 4.3 by 2.8 by 2.0 inches and has an 8 MP sensor, a 10x optical zoom and a long-range flash. It has face detection technology that can both identify and focus on up to eight faces in a frame — so make sure to limit your friend number to eight — and can automatically adjust the focus for correctly exposed photos.

The camera also includes several sports shooting mode, an ISO of up to 3200 and a Super Steady Shot optical image stabilization that helps you, well, super stabilize your super image.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 will ship in May 2008 for about $300.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T300 ultra compact camera

So thin it can cut you, the DSC-T300 has a new intelligent scene recognition (iSCN), a technology that allows the camera to analyze shooting conditions and then select optimal settings for the best results, allowing you to never think again.

The camera also uses a 3.5-inch touch widescreen, includes a 5x optical zoom lens, Super Steady Shot image stabilization, ISO 3200, a Bionz processing engine and a cable that connects the camera to HDTVs — even though you’ll never really do that.

The DSC-T300 is available in black, red and silver in March for around $400.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W170, W150, W130 and W120

So many cameras, so many product names. The 10.1 MP DSC-W170 and the 8.1 MP DSC-W150 both feature 5x optical zoom lenses with a wide angle view and sport 2.7-inch screens. The 8.1 MP DSC-W130 and the 7.2 MP DSC-W120 include a 4x optical zoom and 2.5-inch screens — you got all of that?

Each of the W series features improved face detection (being able to distinguish between children and adults, measuring it by innocence). The two top models also use Sony’s iSCN mode, optical image stabilization, ISO 3200 and in-camera editing functions.

The DSC-W120 will come in pink, blue, black and silver and will be available for $200 in March. The DSC-W130 will be offered in pink, black and silver for $230 in the same month. The DSC-W150 will come in red, black, champagne and silver for roughly $250 in April while the DSC-W170 will be available in the same colors for $300.

The cameras have 22 MB of internal memory and can shoot images at sensitivity levels of ISO 1250.

The DSC-S750 ($150) and the DSC-780 ($180) both come in silver and will be available in March and April respectively.
