DORmino Powers Mouse Without Batteries

We’re big fans of eco-friendly, we love the way technology is shaping itself around the environment and, in the long-run, we think that it won’t only be helpful to our future populations but also, we just think that most eco-friendly gadgets are damn cool.

Which is why we love the DORmino concept — which makes it so you can use your wireless mouse without recharging it, using batteries or killing the environment. Interest appropriately piqued?

dormino1The concept for the DORmino is fairly simple. You know how after prolonged use, your laptop starts feeling a little bit like the inside of an oven? Well, the DORmino is, essentially, a giant mousepad that extends under the notebook computer from the right side. It then uses the heat it absorbs from the notebook to power the mouse.

Finally, a way to harness the irritating might of sweaty forearms and burnt legs.

The concept comes from Cheong Yian Ling and his team in Singapore who submitted their slick design to the Greener Gadgets Design Competition 2008 (no, they didn’t win) — of which the very existence warms our very hearts.

The concept is definitely cool and we love the idea of running a mouse on no batteries — so, let’s hope and hope that it goes from concept into actual creation.

In the meantime, we’ll just have to power our laptop mouse with the warmth oozing out of our hearts.
