Apple has released new, more powerful versions of the MacBook Pro today, pumping up the strength of the processor and adding the MacBook Air’s trackpad — which allows users to perform various tasks with multi-touch gestures.
The regular Macbook has been upgraded as well — but with no multi-touch, saddening everyone who has wanted to open up a program by twisting their fingers in that one, special way.
The new Macbook Pro will include the latest Intel Core 2 Duo technology with a 2.6GHz processor, 4GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory and a huge 300 GB hard drive. It’ll also have the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics card with 512MB of video memory.
And then there’s that trackpad.
If you haven’t seen the MacBook Air’s Multi-Touch gesture trackpad, it’s definitely a fun little innovation. Taking a page out of the iPhone’s own gesture trackpad, users will be able to zoom, rotate photos, browse and more with a simple twist of the fingers.
Then there are the new MacBooks. The three models — all featuring 13-inch glossy widescreen displays, all include faster processors and bigger hard drives. The three models are the 2.1 GHz, 2.4 GHz and the 2.4 GHz, each having, respectively, 120GB, 160GB, and 250GB.
Finally, as per usual, each MacBook and MacBook Pro include a built-in iSight video camera, Apple’s MagSafe Power Adapter, 802.11n wireless networking, built-in10/100/1000 BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth and more.
